We purchased the van almost two years ago having sold our Bay with the intention of using it as a day van to chuck the kids in and still remain in the scene so to speak.
During the early summer of 2010 the van was taken down to Dubmonkies in Tavistock for some fairly major work which included a brand new gear box, complete reduction box rebuild, complete new exhaust system, new wiring loom, electronic ignition, new stainless rear pop out, new stainless quarter light, new front window rubbers, brakes all services and master cylinders replaced, new leisure battery, and complete engine retune (brand new engine 3 years ago with less than 2K since fitting).
Whilst down there the guys gave Dillon a full check over (as we were going for a full re-spray) for rot and the dreaded tin worm, and im please to say from the point of metal work they said he was a tight little van - surface rust but nothing to get to alarmed about, nothing in the arches, floor pan, sills, heat channels - nowt to really worry about in fact.
The guy who had it before us had the van painted in the colours you can see in the pictures which if im honest was not the best job and as a result the original paint is wearing through in a number of places and indeed the cream has micro blistered on the roof (reckon the cream was layed down outside of a booth) - none of which has bothered us as the van is almost 45years old so hell, it a patina paint job.
Interior wise, its a double and single seat in the front (all belted), a small bench on the back of the bulk head and a rock and roll bed in the rear with 3 point belts, black and white cheque flooring, cream interior panels, rear LED lights, three way fridge although this has only been run on electric as no breather for the gas and a battery charge unit which charges the batteries independently.
As ive stated we have only every used the van as a day van (Maybe 5 times) but with a little work it would make a great overnighter and to be honest we are just not getting the use out of the van and we pay through the nose for Dillon to be stored in a pro dry storage facility.
The van is fitted with 240 hook up, comes with a full set of silver screens, full external silver cover, and stripped Danbury porch that fits over the double doors as well as a pile of paperwork about 5 inches high including the original log book, fridge manual and lots of old paperwork from when the van was in Europe etc, there is also a cd player (brand new) but this is not working at the mo as I think the fuse is blown and I have not had the time to sort it as of yet, may rope in my tame VW expert (also known as my brother in law to sort it for me)
